Client challenge to PiR Resourcing:

To present a shortlist of senior commercial financial leaders who are strong on M&A and stakeholder management within EMEA and thrive in a robust and demanding, US focused, life science culture.


Some CVs looked promising but disappointed at interview in terms of culture fit and detailed levels of experience; others over delivered. Previous assignments have proven that the long listing marathon is essential to get to a well matched shortlist. The client is a very attractive prospect, given growth and future projections. Hence managing expectations of the candidates and the client against the brief was critical.

Solution, Process & Time scales:

Over 130 CVs were received from which a long list was selected and interviewed over a two week period. This resulted in a shortlist of six and reserves of another five. Delivery within four weeks from kick-off of the project.


A strong shortlist delivered within four weeks from which the client had several choices because of the calibre of experience and profiles in evidence. During this assignment, a prospective GM candidate was also identified for a role elsewhere in the group. It is proposed another senior finance role will emerge later in 2014 for which the client now has a pipeline of talent to review. So in terms of fees, three senior hires could be solved from one search. Survey evidence from candidates shows that 94% rated the PiR Resourcing service Excellent.
