Napp Pharmaceuticals in Cambridge makes its debut this weekend in The Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100 league table.
It is one of a quartet of East of England businesses to hit the UK’s hot 100, which ranks Britain’s private companies with the fastest-growing profits over the last three years.
The four companies headquartered in the East – compared to one last year –have made a strong contribution to the local economy, together achieving combined profits of £83 million and employing 1,680 staff, having added 130 jobs in the last three years.
All four companies are appearing on the league table for the first time. The region’s highest-ranked company at No 26 is Mildenhall-headquartered JEB Engineering Design, a precision engineer which specialises in mouldings, components and multi-piece assemblies for the electrical, medical and munitions industries. Under chairman Barry Littlewood, profits rose 70 per cent a year to £3m in 2012.
Napp Pharmaceutical Holdings, which develops drugs used in the treatment of severe pain has increased profits 52 per cent a year to £65 million in 2012 under managing director Dietmar Lietner.
